SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO GLIDING ASSOCIATION

Getting Ready

Welcome to Ontario's Mountain!

Located 20 minutes north of Orangeville, our site is in prime thermal territory. Aerotowing takes you up to 2000 feet. After releasing, you can soar higher and further. This is the ideal location geographically and considering airspace to fly cross country in any direction. Typical hang gliding flights last 2 hours. However, there's potential for 5 hours and distances up to 250km. We use the latest aerotowing techniques and equipment. This ensures the safest, most enjoyable hang gliding experience possible. We operate on weekends and some weekdays.

About SOGA

SOGA is Ontario's only Aerotowing hang gliding club, and is affiliated with the Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association of Canada and, through HPAC, with the Aero Club of Canada.

The SOGA group has been around for more than 40 years and has been incorporated for half of that. We're a dedicated bunch of hang glider pilots. Our primary way of launching is aero-towing. We own our own tow plane and have a hangar to store it. Our field is located in prime thermal territory clear of controlled airspace.

SOGA's roots trace back to the Kitchener-Waterloo Hang Gliding Club which was established in 1979.

SOGA Club Also Offers ...

  • Glider Storage
  • Camping
  • Large glider set-up area
  • Glider Rental
  • Camaraderie
  • Cross-country gliding flight mentorship
  • Planned and impromptu social events
  • Free Seminars
